asean-logo The ASEAN Chess Confederation (ACC) was founded on 28 May 2000. The founding members are the national chess federations of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Its president is Ignatius Leong from Singapore.
ASEAN have been most successful with the ASEAN Age Group Championships, now in its 10th edition, and also its training and developmental arm, the ASEAN Chess Academy which has received universal praise and international recognition as a global leader in talent development.
Tu Huang Tong (VIE) won the first individual championship in 2001. Mark Paragua (PHI) was the winner in 2003, Thien Hai Dao won in 2004. In 2008 Julio C. Sadorra (PHI) won the first ACC Grand Prix and in 2010 Zurab Azmaiparashvili won the ASEAN Open.
