Russian Grandmaster (2001). Jakovenko was vice champion of Russia 2005 and 2006, World U18 Champion in 2001 and one of the best world juniors in 2002.
Best results: co-winner at Pardubice Open and Aosta Open in 2002, 12th at the Russian championship 2003, 1st at Montreal World tournament in 2005, 1st at Poikovsky 2007 and in 2008, 2nd at Aeroflot Open 2007, at Pamplona 2007, at Corus B 2007 and 3rd at the 2007 European Individual Championship.
A participant in the 2008 and 2010 Olympiads. Coached by Alexander Nikitin.
In 2009, Jakovenko was the 5th best ranked player of the world. Best ELO: 2760.
