jamaica Jamaica became a member of FIDE in 1972. Jamaica has participated in all Olympiads since 1978 (except 1994) and collected one silver medal for a great individual performance made by J. Powell in 1982. Its best achievement was 55 in 1978.
By the end of 2010 Jamaica had one International Master and 6 titled players.
The first national championship was organised in 1969 and was won by A. Thompson.  Since 2000 the champions were: 2000 Warren Elliott, 2001 Warren Elliott, 2002 Shane Matthews, 2003 Shane Matthews, 2004 Warren Elliott, 2005 Warren Elliott, 2006 Duane Rowe, 2007 Warren Elliott, 2009 Brown Equitable, 2010 Warren Elliot.
