At Poikovsky in Siberia, the Poikovsky Karpov Tournament has been held yearly since 2000 in honour of the 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov.
Sponsored by the local Governor, the Round Robin Tournament includes many of the top leading players.

The winners were: 2000 Viktor Bologan, 2001 Viktor Bologan, 2002 Onischuk, 2003 Peter Svidler and Joel Lautier, 2004 Alexander Grischuk and Rublevsky, 2005 Etienne Bacrot and Bologan shared first in 2005,  2006 Alexei Shirov, 2007 Dmitry Jakovenko in 2007, 2008 Rublevsky, Jakovenko, Shirov and Gashimov in 2008, 2009 Alexander Motylev, 2010 Sergey Karjakin, 2011 Etienne Bacrot.
