The Liechtensteiner Schachverband is a member of FIDE since 1985. The national team has participated in ten Olympiads since 1988 and collected one individual medal for board performance (Mannhart, 2000). The best performance was ninetieth in 1992. The Liechtenstein Open is taking place for many years with always several title players.
