luxembourg Created in 1931, the Federation Luxembourgeoise des Echecs is a member of FIDE since 1946.
In 2011, Luxembourg listed one GM, three IMs and a total of fifteen titled players.

Luxembourg has participated in twenty-eight Olympiads since 1952 (except 1958 and 1960). Alberto David collected a silver medal for the second best result at board two in 2002 and Georges Philippe a bronze medal for the third best result at board five in 1976. The team’s best achievement was twenty-fifth in 1952.
In 2011 Luxembourg won the Small European Nation Championship ahead of Faroe and Monaco.
