mexico-loga The Fed. Nac. de Ajedrez de Mexico AC has been a member of FIDE since 1956. Mexican teams have competed in 22 Olympiads since 1964. The best performance was 19th in 1990.
In 2011 the federation listed 5 IGMs, 26 IMs and a total of 127 titles players.

On 22 October 2006 Mexico set a new record for simultaneous chess games when 13,446 players faced off at the same time in a vast Spanish colonial square at the heart of Mexico City.
Players seated in Mexico City’s Zocalo square beat last year’s record of 12,388 simultaneous games set in the nearby Mexican city of Pachuca. In 2007 Mexico hosted also the World Championship tournament won by Viswanathan Anand.

The Mexican known players are: Carlos Torre, Manuel Leon Hoyos, Juan Carlos Gonzalez Zamora and Gilberto Hernandez .
