Two of the best U.S. round-robin grandmaster chess tournaments which included the best players at that time were sponsored by the rich businessman and musician Gregor Piatigorsky (13.04.1903-06.08.1976) organised in 1966 and 1968 at Santa Monica, California, USA.

1-2. Paul Keres and Tigran Petrosian 8.5,  3-4.  Miguel Nardorf and Fidrik Olaffson 7.5, 5. Samuel Reshevsky 7, 6. Svetozar Glogoric 6, 7-8 Pal Benko and Oscar Panno 5.5.

Piatigorsky Cup 1966:
