The Czech Ludek Pachman won the first after war international tournament in 1949 followed by Alexander Tolush in 1953 and 1954 Viktor Korchnoi, 1961 Leonid Stein, 1962 Ratmir Kholmov, 1966 Viktor Korchnoi, 1967 Florin Gheorghiu, 1968 Bruno Parma, 1971 Yuri Averbach, 1973 Mark Taimanov, 1974 Vitaly Tseshkovsky, 1975 Victor Ciocaltea, 1976 Teodor Ghitescu, 1978 Lev Alburt, 1979 Mark Taimanov, 1980 Ventzislav Inkiov, 1981 Serguey Dolmatov. Since 1984 the Victor Ciocaltea Memorial is yearly organized.
