Little city of Bosnia and Herzegovina known for its great interest in chess and the organization of 5 super tournaments between 1978 and 1986. Anatoly Karpov and Boris Spassky shared the first edition, a category 14 in 1978. Karpov won again in 1980, a category 15 ahead of Bent Larsen and Jan Timman. The young Garry Kasparov came clear first with 9½/13 in 1982 in front of Ljubomir Ljubojevic and Lev Polugaevsky 8/13. The 1984 edition was won by Jan Timman and in 1986, the first category 16 tournament ever held with an average rating of 2628 was once more secured by Anatoly Karpov ahead of Andrei Sokolov and Ljubomir Ljubojevic.
