agde-affiche A small French village near Montpellier in the South of France, which hosts several strong chess festivals since 1994. Those tournaments organized by Pascal Lazarre and Bob Textoris include the European Rapid Championship in 1998 and the Rapid World Championship won by Vishy Anand in 2003. The events which attract more than 800 players are sponsored by the CCAS of France.

1994 Boris Gelfand, 1998 Anatoly Karpov, 2000 Mikhail Gurevich, 2002 Boris Gelfand, 2003 Vishy Anand, 2006 Teimour Radjabov, 2008 Hikaru Nakamura and 2010 Vassily Ivanchuk.
