COMMONWEALTH CHAMPIONSHIP

The Commonwealth Chess Association was created in 1981 but a first Commonwealth championship was already organized in 1950 in Oxford won by the Scottish player William Fairhurst. The tournament is generally open to all players but the title goes to the first citizen member of the Commonwealth.
