Capital of Netherlands and home of the Koninklijk library one of the largest chess libraries in the world which displays the Niemijer-Van der Linde collection. The city was also the location of the first FIDE Office (1929-1941). The Hague hosted the 1921 international tournament won by Alexander Alekhine, the first tournament of national teams in 1928 later called Chess Olympiad and the first Amateur World Championship won by Max Euwe. Later, several games from the World Championship matches Alekhine-Bogoljubow (1929) and Alekhine –Euwe (1935 and 1937) were also staged in the city.
